I have just found out that there are close to a billion people that do not have access to clean, safe drinking water. That’s 3 in 8 of us. I was really shocked by this fact, since I never even think about water-I just take it for granted that I can have it whenever I want to.

Millions of women and children have to walk hours each day to get water from muddy ponds and rivers. And much of that water is infested with parasites and leeches.
Since they don’t have the kind of healthcare we have or the good healthy food and nutrition, many of them get very sick and die—especially children because their bodies are not strong enough to fight these illnesses.

When I found out that only $20 can give someone clean, safe water for 20 years, I decided I had to help. Now, my goal is to raise $5000 to build wells in developing nations.
Charity: water will give 100% of the money we raise directly to the water projects. Even better, when projects are complete, every dollar is tied to a village and all the wells are posted on Google Earth.

I've never actually been dying of thirst. And if you're like me, you'd like to see a world where no one does.
