Many of us have no idea what it's like to be thirsty. We have plenty of water to drink -- even the water in our toilets is clean!
But many people around the world don’t have that luxury. Every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. But it doesn’t have to be that way. There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world.
For my birthday this year, I am asking that anyone who is planning on giving me a gift to instead donate $26 (equivalent to my age) to this campaign for charity: water.
All the money I am able to raise will go directly to what I believe to be one of the most effective and trustworthy organizations that is working to directly eliminate pointless suffering in the world. 100% of the money will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped.
If just 30 people contribute $26, we will have raised $780 to help provide clean water to those in need.
I was inspired to start this campaign by an episode of The Liturgist Podcast which powerfully impacted me to confront the problem of suffering in our world and the many ways that I can so easily be distracted from it:

Please donate to my campaign -- anything you can give is a huge help!
Happy Birthday Jared!
