Shouldn't we all have access to clean drinking water?

In the beginning of January, I read an article about a woman who drank a gallon of water every day for a month. My first thought was "I should do that too. I wonder what will happen."
My second thought was "Shit, I am such a princess."
How lucky and spoiled am I that I can decide on a whim to drink that much water every day? And does it make it worse that I could have been doing it every day of my life and I haven't been?
Clean water is so abundant and free in so many places in my life that I never have to think much about it. It’s everywhere we go. When we’re thirsty, we drink from the sink, a fountain or a bottle. When we’re dirty, we twist a shower knob. Watering the garden, cooking, and using the bathroom -- water is just an arm's length away.

But, in many developing countries, women and children walk for hours, up and down mountains, just to collect water (water that can still make them really sick).

So, I've decided: I want to play a part in helping to solve the water crisis. And I really hope that you'll join me.
100% of everything raised in this campaign will directly fund water projects (private donors cover operating costs, so $$ from campaigns can go directly where its needed). And when those projects are finished, charity: water will send us proof in pictures and GPS coordinates, so we can see the actual people and communities we impacted.

My goals are to raise $1,000 and to drink a gallon of water per day over the course of the campaign -the next 74 days! I will personally be donating $10 every day that I don't quite finish my gallon. Please join me by donating and by drinking (and appreciating) your own gallon per day!
