Water = life.

In the first world, we almost never recognize how lucky we all are. We have plenty of food, roofs over our heads, and even extras, like entertainment. But in the world's poorest nations, the basics go by the wayside. The most important of these is water.

Without water, the human body dehydrates and dies in an average of 72 hours. In the third world, the lack of clean drinking water kills 5000 children a day.

I'm going to repeat that, because I think it bears repeating: FIVE THOUSAND CHILDREN, under the age of five years old, die EVERY DAY because they lack clean water.

Getting clean water to these kids, who will die without it, is simple. It doesn't require complex technology or exorbitant amounts of money. Digging a well and installing a bio-sand filter are simple things any village can do. But it does cost a little money. A tiny amount to us, but it's more than these kids have.

That's why I set up this campaign at charity: water. Think of it this way; if a thirsty child knocked on your door and asked you for a glass of water, would you turn them away? If the answer is no, then please donate. It doesn't have to be a lot. Dig in the couch for spare change. Take some pop cans back to the store. Something, ANYTHING is better than nothing.

100% of the money will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped.
