Dear Friends and Family,

As some of you may be aware, I have recently finished up a month of only drinking water. I realized before undertaking this challenge how much we take for granted our access to clean, healthy water and wanted to do something personal that would make me more self aware of this everyday blessing we all share. Another motivation for this experiment was to save money by substituting the costly beverages I normally drink, with free tap water. The goal being to donate these savings to a charity that provides healthy and free water to people without access.

I am calling on all of you, my friends, family and co-workers, to support me in my cause. I have set up this campaign page with Charity Water, with a goal of $5,000 which is the cost it takes to build a well providing clean water to a village in Africa, Latin America, or South-East Asia. One-hundred percent of the money raised will go to building a water project in a specific community, and progress will be updated on our campaign page so we can all check in from time to time to see the tangible results. If our goal of $5,000 is reached, eighteen months from now we will receive photos and google map coordinates of the well that our money built, with information on the people who are directly affected by it. Imagine how it will feel to log on in December of 2013 and see how our small contributions have helped people half a world away!

I want to personally thank you for visiting my page and encourage you to get creative and find a way to donate. If this is something you believe in, donate whatever you can, invite friends, cut some costly beverages out of your life. With the money I saved this past month by cutting beverages out of my diet, I was able to donate $450 to our campaign. Anything you can donate would be greatly appreciated. By giving up coffee for a week, a weekend of drinking, or by substituting bottled water with tap water, this money adds up. Any sacrifice you make can add up to make a real difference in someone's life and can bring us that much closer to our goal of $5,000
