goal
Water is used in just about every way in America - but not for it's main purpose which is hydration. Americans run the tap when brushing their teeth, when showering, or when playing games. But to children in countries like Indonesia, Thailand, rural China, and many countries in Africa, water is used for just ONE purpose: hydration/survival.
I heard a story once from a friend of mine who came back from Zimbabwe after a missions trip. She told me that she experienced, first-hand, what it was like to not have enough water. The women in that rural village in Zimbabwe woke up early every morning to walk 2-3 hours to the only well that pumped water (and it wasn't clean water, mind you) more than 10 miles away. After collecting water in a jar, they would walk another 2-3 hours to bring the water back to their homes to use it for laundry, cooking, and bathing.
Cholera may be a thing of the past to most Americans and Europeans, but to many people in African countries - this is a daily struggle for survival. I want to give CLEAN, fresh, water to those who need it most this year -- although the goal may be a bit ambitious, I am hoping that it can be met.
$20 gives 1 person clean drinking water for 20 YEARS.
Let's give them joy for Christmas. :)
