Water – its such a simple substance, its all around us and we us it everyday. Think about how much water we use a day?

We use it to clean things; ourselves in the shower, our teeth, our foods, our dishes, our clothes. We use to for irrigating crops and landscapes, even our plants and gardens. We use in recreation in swimming pools and hot tubes, but most importantly, we use to drink it.

We are told the importance of water in our bodies, to stay hydrated and “drink 8 cups of water everyday.” But can you imagine - instead of your biggest water problem trying to drink enough of it a day – it is to walk hours to just collect it. And even when you get the water, it’s contaminated with diseases.

A billion people in the world are living without clean water - 45,000 people will die this week alone. Unsafe water kills more people every year than all forms of violence, including war.

On April 10th, I'm turning 25 and thanks to my friend Marc who introduced me to charity: water through his campaign, I'm celebrating my birthday like never before.

I'm asking for $25 from everyone I know - and every penny of the money raised will go directly to fund freshwater wells in developing nations.

My goal is to raise $2500 by my 25th birthday. I want to make my birthday matter this year.
