This year I'm celebrating my 31st birthday differently. I don't want any presents. I want clean water.
India has some of the poorest communities in the world, and several million families have little or no access to clean water. Did you know that 80% of diseases in rural areas are from drinking and bathing in contaminated water?
So this year, I am teaming up with Charity: Water, a New York based charity organisation that brings clean water to people in need. And their September campaign is focused on bringing clean drinking water, showers and toilets to 100 villages in Orissa, India.
The best part is that 100% of the money we raise will directly fund water projects in Orissa, and when those projects are complete, Charity: Water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the impact we made. I can't think of a better birthday gift.
