This year, I am turning 21. As an American, I will now legally be able to drink. And as most of you know, my drink of choice is water. I could not imagine a day going by without drinking at least three of my trusty Nalgene-fulls. But, in countries all over the world people go without the simple pleasure of clean drinking water. In fact, 45,000 people die each week from diseases contracted from the contaminated water that they walk for hours each day to collect.
So this year, I'm giving up my birthday. After one of the most exciting, busy, and life filled years of my life I would like to share some of that joy and help give the chance for life to those without clean water.
I ask that instead of buying me a present or something that will not last, you take the money that could buy me a few non-water drinks (one dollar for each year of my life) and help fund a well that will provide clean water for 250 people for 20 years.
Please join me in giving the chance at healthy life.
Please note: Because of charity: water's unique model, 100% of all donations go directly to direct water projects costs, and each donation is "proved" and tracked to the village it helped when projects are complete.
