Four-year-old Worth has had a complicated relationship with water in his four years on this planet. In his first year, he absolutely HATED taking a bath, screaming bloody murder when he got wet. After a year or so in swimming lessons, he turned into a bit of a fish and can now cannonball with the best of them. But he’s never known the lack of clean and abundant water.

Leslie has always been fascinated with how water is dispersed throughout the planet and how its existence—or its lacking—affects so much from economy to health to peace. As a senior in college she wrote about water usage and pricing. On her honeymoon in Tanzania and later travels in Asia, she watched as women and children spent hours of each day traveling by foot to find and carry water for their families.

We were happy to find charity:water to start making a difference.

Between Worth’s birthday on November 2 and Leslie’s birthday on January 16 (well, actually February 1 for those of you who might need to send belated greetings), we are trying to raise awareness of the need to bring clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations.

If 130 of you give a donation in the amount of Worth’s new age – $4 – we will be able to reach the $525 mark and help provide clean water to 26 people. If, however, you can donate in the amount of Leslie’s upcoming age – $38 – we will get nearer to $5,000 and the ability to fund an entire water project for a community. 100% of public donations directly fund water projects and about 18 months after this campaign ends, charity:water will show us where and how every dollar we raised ended up helping in the field.
