Many Americans have no idea what it's like to be thirsty. We have plenty of water to drink.
But many people around the world don’t have that luxury. Instead of having fresh water readily available in their homes, millions of women and children walk miles daily to collect water that frequently ends up being dirty. As a result, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation each day.
In our World Issues classroom at Lake Havasu High School we have been researching different challenges related to water scarcity. Student-chosen topics include the Flint water crisis, scarcity along the Colorado and Ganges rivers, and how water scarcity impacts people in Uganda and India. We will be presenting our research on March 13th during our Water Walk fundraising event.
At this event, students will be walking laps around the High School track while carrying at least 2 gallons of water to simulate the daily struggle of millions worldwide to collect water. Similar to Relay for Life, groups will find sponsors to pledge a certain dollar amount per lap that they walk or give a one time donation. Donors can pledge a certain amount per lap or give a one time donation at this website.

We started this fundraising campaign to help charity: water build projects to bring safe water closer to people around the world, and we are looking for anyone who can help us.
Please donate to our campaign -- anything you can give is a huge help.
100% of the money will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped.
