The idea was presented to me as I was running a 15k. The irony of the moment was not lost on me. Here I was running 9.3 miles for fun, while in another part of the world women and girls were walking this distance to get water (not even clean water) for their families.
I decided to donate my 38th birthday. There is NOTHING I can think of that I need more than a person having clean water.
I am a nurse, I care tremendously for sick kids. Every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. But it doesn’t have to be that way. There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world.
I started this fundraising campaign to help charity: water build these types of projects around the world, and I'm looking for anyone who can help me.
Please donate to my campaign -- anything you can give is a huge help. I don't need presents, in fact when we consider how just this small action can impact so many people what wouldn't I be willing to give. It's simple, 38 donations of $38 for my 38th Birthday.
100% of the money will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped.
Happy Birthday!
