GIVE THE GIFT OF WATER

Did you know that there are close to 800 million people in the world who don’t have access to clean drinking water? To help change this, I’m kicking off 2014 with my commitment to a great charity called Charity Water, and I want you to join me.

I learned about this project because of an 8 year old girl named Rachel Beckwith from Bellevue, Washington. For her upcoming 9th Birthday, Rachel had a goal to raise $300 for Charity Water because she wanted everyone in the world to have clean water to drink. Rachel’s life was tragically ended by a car accident shortly before her birthday, just $80 short of her $300 goal. After her sudden death, $1,265,823 million dollars was raised by her campaign and 143 well projects were completed.

One of the other important reasons I choose to support this organization is because Charity Water gives 100% of all donations to fund Clean Water Projects. ALL of their administrative and fundraising expenses are privately funded so EVERY dollar you donate goes directly to providing clean water to those in need. Since Charity Water was founded in 2006, they have helped over 3.5 million people get clean water, and they have funded just shy of 10,000 water projects in 20 countries.

I am doing 2 things to help myself meet this goal of raising $10,000 by March 31st : I am giving up coffee, yes, coffee. And for everyone who donates $100 or more to my campaign I will donate $100.00 dollars of my own money.
