So its that time of the year again, July 25th is upon us and my quarter century just so happens to be my golden birthday this year. I'm not one to usually throw big parties but this year I'm very blessed to have lived another happy, healthy year. I don't usually ask for presents but this year I've decided to make an exception. So I've decided to do something different and celebrate this year with a bang so I've decided to donate my birthday to charity:water. I'm asking for my age in dollars from all my friends and family. My suggested donation is $25 since I will be turning 25, or if that's too much for some people since I know a lot of my friends are low on money, instead of buying me a drink, donate at least $10? But don't let me stop you, the sky is the limit! If you're feeling generous, feel free to give as much as you like! (Trust me when I say its a far better investment than alcohol lol). The best part is that charity:water funds their own operating costs so 100% of the money we raise from my birthday campaign will directly fund clean water projects around the world and when those projects are complete (about 18 months), charity:water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the impact we made. Cool right? We'll know the locations and the names of the communities we helped.
Almost a billion people on the planet don't have access to clean drinking water. Everyday thousands of kids die from water related illnesses before they reach their fifth birthday. But it doesn't have to be that way. Just $20 can give a person clean water to drink. There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and bio-sand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world. Women and children around the world walk hours everyday to collect water for their families and the worst part is that the water they travel so far for is basically a puddle of mud. And a majority of the diseases they are contracting are from the water they are collecting. I know we wouldn't drink Lake Washington's water or even hose water for that matter and people are out there drinking muddy water infested with parasites. The results in having direct access to clean water ripple into more than just having clean water to drink but into sanitation, economy, and education. The time women and children use to collect water can now be used to nurture their families, have jobs, and go to school. Sanitation standards help improve hygiene cleanliness and reduce the risk of contracting illnesses. It helps create a self sustaining community. It's simple, water changes everything and I can't think of a better birthday gift! So please donate to my campaign and help me reach my goal and make it the best birthday yet! Foward this page to a friend, share, like, but please donate! My goal is at least $2500. May be far fetched but I believe we can help make a difference even if its only a few. Every drop of clean water is worth every cent. It takes roughly $10,000 to provide water for an entire community! Even if we don't get close to that, every family with clean water is well worth it. Thank you!
