Every day, 5,000 kids under the age of 5 die from water-related illnesses. I'm gonna help change that!

Thank you everyone for the well wishes! Those of you who know me well know I'd usually be out splurging, having my own extravagant ball or a feast with far too many people. Well, I'm closer to 30 than I am to 20 now, so I wanted to do something different this year. I want to donate my time and money to something more practical, something we all take for granted everyday...Clean water.

Every $1 invested in improved water supply and sanitation can yield from $4 to $12 for the local economy, depending on the type of project. Clean water is a smart investment, it helps saves lives and I simply do not need another mimosa brunch.

All I'm asking, all, I'm asking, is that we combine our efforts in lieu of a celebration. Every penny of the money raised will directly fund clean water projects in developing countries. Even better, charity: water will show us exactly which projects we funded once they've been fully completed (which takes about 18 months). That means we'll know the locations and names of the communities we helped.
