It is that time of year again. Anyone who knows me is aware that I don't go all out or really celebrate my birthday. Instead I give it up to raise money for Charity Water. An amazing cause that I fiercely support. The best gift I could every receive, is knowing someone else is being blessed and touched through this movement.
In Africa, children carry 80 pounds of water on their backs everyday. They walk for hours to and from their water source to get water that is not even clean. Can you imagine watching your 5 year old child sharing a drink of dirty, bacteria infested water with a cow? Probably not, but for people in Africa, that is their everyday norm.
This year I decided to make my birthday count for something. No big elaborate plans. No spending obscene amounts on money on material things that at the end of the day don't last and don't matter. This year I am giving up my birthday so that someone else can live long enough to see theirs.
Please help me celebrate my 24th year of life by giving someone else another year of theirs.
