748 million people live without access to clean water. Let's do something about it.

Clean water. Seems simple enough, doesn't it? While clean water may be at arm’s reach for many of us, it’s miles away for so many others. A lot of people, myself included, take clean water for granted. Nearly 1 billion people around the world are living without it. Every day, women and children go on treks for hours in search for clean water they may never find. Not only is the journey itself dangerous, but the water they haul back is dangerous as well. The bacteria in the water can cause numerous diseases, possibly even leading to death.
The worst part is these people are well aware of the risks, but there is nothing they can do. However, there is something that I can do to help. Last year, I pledged my birthday to charity:water and managed to raise enough money to help 75 people without access to clean water. In all honesty, I think it was one of the best birthdays I ever had. This year I would like to do the exact same thing, hopefully helping even more people. No presents, just clean water.
Even if it means one more girl that can go to school because she doesn't have to walk several hours to get water, or one less baby that will die from a water-related illness, my birthday will be well worth it. These people need clean water more than anything, so please consider donating to my campaign to help me make a difference.
