Why Jesse Carey is fundraising for clean water

ABOUT THE CHALLENGE

On the evening of July 8, following the recording of the 500th episode of The RELEVANT Podcast, I will sit in a room and watch nothing but Nicolas Cage films for 24 consecutive hours with the goal of raising $24,000.

What are the limits of the human psyche? How far can the mind be stretched by the unrelenting forces of Nicolas Cage before crossing a void that it is impossible to return from? These are questions I will be answering.

I am asking people to donate to Charity:Water to support this endeavor into the depths of sanity.

The event will be live streamed at TrappedInTheCage.com so that mankind will have a record of this historic feat, and/or will bear witness to a complete psychotic breakdown.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

1) Donate to Charity:Water

2) Go to TrappedInTheCage.com and vote for which Nicolas Cage Films should be included

3) Donate to Charity:Water again

4) Live stream the entire evening at TrappedInTheCage.com

5) Come to screenings: Go to TrappedInTheCage.com to reserve a seat and choose a time that you would like to join us, live in Orlando.

ABOUT ME

Last year, I did the unthinkable: I listened to the entire Nickelback catalogue for 168 straight hours.

Though I came close to death several times, through the generous support of people around the world, $36K was raise for Charity:Water https://my.charitywater.org/nickelback/nbchallenge
This year, I will be attempting a feat just as dangerous: Watching Nicolas Cage films for 24-straight hours.

FAQ

Question: Why 24-straight hours of Nic Cage movies?

Answer: Because after conquering Nickelback, I had to choose a challenge that not only puts my body and soul at risk, but will force me to stare into the unknown depths of the human mind.

For 24 hours, I will walk the tight rope line that exists between genius and madness.

Question: What are your biggest concerns?

Answer: Probably having to sit through “Season of the Witch” or “Left Behind.” Only a few dozen people have ever even made it through just one showing of either of those films.

Question: Has anyone ever attempted a similar feat?

I heard about a guy who once watched "Bangkok Dangerous" after viewing both National Treasure films back-to-back on a dare. After they were over, he went for a walk to clear his head, and my understanding is, he’s never been seen again.

Authorities decided it was just best to not investigate any further.

Question: Are you even fully recovered from the Nickelback Challenge yet?

The simple answer is, no.

Following the challenge, doctors had me detox for several months by listening to the catalogues of Creed, Limp Bizkit and the Dave Matthews Band. Obviously, it’s been very difficult, but I’m on the road to recovery.

ABOUT CHARITY:WATER

Many of us have no idea what it's like to be thirsty. We have plenty of water to drink -- even the water in our toilets is clean!

But many people around the world don’t have that luxury. Every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. But it doesn’t have to be that way. There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world.

I started this fundraising campaign to help charity: water build these types of projects around the world, and I'm looking for anyone who can help me.

Please donate to my campaign -- anything you can give is a huge help.

100% of the money will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped.
