As the mother of 3 girls, I am amazed at the opportunities now available to girls because of the work of charity:water. No longer do girls have to spend their days walking and waiting and carrying water. They now get to attend school and contribute to their villages in a more significant way than ever before. Think of how long you let the water run while you're waiting for it to get hot or get cold. How about the numbers of half-full water bottles you throw away at the end of a party or a meeting. Admittedly, changing our water usage habits is not going to impact those without water - however, it should at least make us all aware of how fortunate we are and how much we take for granted that we can get a drink whenever we want, use the bathroom, make noodles for our kids, watch them run through a sprinkler.
If you can, donate money, not because it's my birthday, but because it gives you an excuse to help keep 5,000 children from dying today. Consider giving away your birthday, too!
Thank you!
