Many of us have no idea what it's like to be thirsty. We have plenty of water to drink -- even the water in our toilets is clean!

But many people around the world don’t have that luxury. Every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. But it doesn’t have to be that way. There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world.

I started this campaign so that people can give a meaningful gift. I thought that I already have so much "stuff", and that I take even things as important as water for granted. Some people in the world have hardly any possessions, and they are worrying about whether or not they will have enough water for the day, or if the small amount of water they are getting is clean or filled with deadly diseases. When I notice the things that I worry about versus what others worry about, I notice that I really do have first world problems. Why should I care about how many books, games, and toys I get, when other people are worrying about getting clean water?

I made my goal $770 because 7 is an important number in Jewish tradition. I also chose this goal because it can help a lot of people and even if it is a bit of a stretch, it will probably be reachable.

100% of the money will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped.
