My birthday is almost here. I'm grateful to have lived another happy, healthy year with so many luxuries that we take for granted: warmth whenever I want, a safe house to sleep in, too much food, transportation, libraries at the touch of a finger, the miracle of clean water to drink available from the faucet 24/7, daily showers and toilet flushing with water that I could drink...
Meanwhile, millions of kids around the world don't live to see their fifth birthday because they don't have access to clean, safe drinking water. Diseases from unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war.
We can help change that.
In honor of my 36th birthday. instead of buying me a birthday present (as if we need to buy more) -- if you've ever felt like wanting to contribute to me or to my well-being or to give back to me, I'm asking for financial contributions towards this water campaign instead. If you stumbled onto this webpage and don't even know me, that's fine too! :)
Every penny of the money raised will directly fund clean water projects in developing countries. Even better, charity:water will show us exactly which projects we funded once they've been fully completed (which takes about 18 months). That means we'll know the locations and names of the communities we helped.
Help me reach my goal. Please donate to my birthday campaign!
At the request of Michael Moore
speechless!
