Why Orla is running, and Jessie is continuing her support of clean water

Orla is taking on the London Marathon this year, as Jessie continues her long-standing support of clean water initiatives by helping lead the fundraising effort alongside her.

charity: water is improving the lives of millions across the globe by providing access to clean water. The team's commitment to efficacy ensures 100% of donations go directly to the charity, with every £30 raised providing a lifetime of clean water to one person.

Orla, member of the UN Women UK Community, is taking on this challenge to raise awareness and funds for clean water: 'I am delighted to be supporting charity: water and to be sharing in this journey with Jessie and the team as we take on the London Marathon together this April!

My connection to their mission is a longstanding one - access to clean water is particularly impactful for women and girls. In households without water on premises, they are most often responsible for collecting it, spending hours each day walking long distances (often more than a marathon in a week) instead of attending school, building their livelihoods or simply just being children.

To be able to play some small part in their mission and sharing in this with Jessie - a woman who I have known to so valiantly champion others through her many pursuits - is a real honour, but also a big responsibility.... one we need your help with.

We would be so grateful to have your support - whatever you can give - your generosity will have a lifetime of impact through the vital projects it will help deliver!'

Jessie, co-founder of Pruzan Running, has supported charity: water in different ways for over a decade, and the mission has stayed close to her: 'Access to clean water changes everything. It improves health, strengthens communities, and creates time and possibility where there was once daily strain and uncertainty.

This access can be exceptionally impactful for women and girls. When water is nearby, they no longer have to spend hours each day walking to collect it. That time can instead be spent in school, building skills and shaping their own futures. Clean water is not just a resource, it's an opportunity.

Supporting charity: water feels like a meaningful way to contribute to that change. Their work is changemaking and I’m grateful to play even a small role in helping bring clean water to communities around the world.'
