Hi Everyone,
Last summer, while driving home from a music festival in the middle of the night, I listened to a podcast about charity:water. I was so moved that I decided to pledge my next birthday and create a campaign for donations. What Scott Harrison described in the podcast was awful but was also so inspiring. The crises and effects of not having clean water were shocking. But the techniques and innovation he talked about in trying to help were amazing. And the compassion and concern charity:water exhibits in the their work was obvious.
The other moving part of the podcast was a story about a little girl named Rachel. Rachel donated her 9th birthday to charity:water rather than asking for gifts and presents. If a 9-year-old could be selfless enough to donate her birthday, I could too. Unfortunately, Rachel died shortly after her birthday. But news of her story spread, and now over $1 million dollars in donations have been made in Rachel's name. And that money has brought clean water to over 30,000 people in Ethiopia.
Attached is the link to that podcast (https://soundcloud.com/the-bill-simmons-podcast/ep-101-scott-harrison). Please take the time listen and to learn about charity:water. And I hope you're inspired to donate.
