My birthday is around the corner. I don’t usually ask for presents, but this year I’ve decided to make an exception. I’m asking all my friends and family to donate to charity: water and give clean water to people who need it, instead of giving me gifts.

I'll also be providing part of the proceeds from my new bow tie collection sales to Charity Water.

WHY? Because I've experienced the importance of clean water (I usually take it for granted) or lack there of. I recently went hiking in the Adirondack mountains of NY and ran out of water as we were hiking back to the car (Still had about 4hrs of hiking to get out of the woods). Luckily my hiking buddy, Matt, had a filter and we had a source of water (Lake George) that we could use to fill a bag, get it filtered and fill our water bottles.

After the trip it hit me; "What if we could not get water or didn't have the ability to filter water we did find?"

Guess what for almost a billion people they struggle with that very question each and every day. We can do something about it; will you help?
