This year I'm celebrating my birthday differently. I don't want presents or drinks. I want water. Okay fine, I want drinks too -- but I'll only accept a drink if you help me with this first.
You guys, there are people right now who literally don't have clean water. It's 2013 and that's still a thing.
Isn't that crazy? Women and children have to walk hours every day to collect water for their families. They can't work or go to school because their whole day is spent walking miles to get water and then hauling 40 pounds of water on their back all the way back home. And the worst part is the water they collect can make them really sick.
Terrible right? Well, we can actually do something about it. Just $20 can give a person clean water to drink.
charity: water funds their operating costs separately through a group of private donors, so 100% of the money we raise will directly fund water projects. When those projects are complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the impact we made. I can't think of a better birthday gift.
