WATER CHANGES EVERYTHING.

I know that twenty is not usually considered an important birthday by American standards, but I have big hopes for my birthday this year. I would like to use my birthday to help change a big problem.

Our planet is suffering from a water crisis and most people aren't even aware! 748 million people around the world do not have access to clean drinking water. Because water is so readily available to us, we rarely think how much of an impact it has on every part of our life. But in reality, water affects everything.

Before I watched the video below, I knew nothing about the water crisis. These people caught in the water crisis are forced to walk extremely long distances to get dirty, unsafe water for their families. This water causes many diseases, dehydration, and diarrhea. 5,000 children die EVERY DAY from water-related illnesses.

These conditions are also related to social and economic problems. These families often live on less than $1 a day. The long walks for water are keeping girls and women of all ages out of school and work. Time not spent gathering water is opportunity!

Charity: water works to provide villages with clean, safe, renewable water sources. The water crisis is solvable with help!!!

The past two years I have donated my birthday to Charity: water and raised almost $1000 in total. This money has gone directly to the cause and provided help in many different countries for many different people. This year I am setting a high goal of $1,000. Birthdays are about life, so lets help better the lives of others! I really hope you all can help out in any way, whether it's donating or spreading the word!
