Festeggiamo il mio compleanno regalando loro ciò di cui hanno bisogno!

Lo scorso novembre ho deciso di rinunciare, per un anno, ai regali che parenti e amici desiderassero farmi per laurea, Natale ed affini, chiedendo loro invece di dare un contributo ad un progetto targato charity:water. Di lì è nata la prima parte della campagna "Un fiume di regali" (http://my.charitywater.org/un-fiume-di-regali), che nell'arco di soli due mesi è riuscita a raccogliere 305$ da mandare sul campo. E' stata un'esperienza interessante sotto molti punti di vista: è stato entusiasmante vedere la risposta di parenti e amici più stretti, sorprendente ritrovare amici lontani e addirittura sconosciuti nella lista dei contributori, gratificante al massimo raggiungere e addirittura superare l'asticella da me inizialmente fissata a tempo record.

Tra qualche giorno arriverà la festa per eccellenza, il mio compleanno, e caso vuole che io ne faccia 23 il 23. Prevedo che la voglia di celebrare il genetliaco sarà forse offuscata dal trantran quotidiano, dal recupero post-Pasqua e, soprattutto, dall'impossibilità di festeggiare assieme a tutti gli amici, ormai letteralmente sparsi per il globo. Per questi motivi, quest'anno mi piacerebbe festeggiare insieme a tutti voi dando un ulteriore contributo a questa nobile causa e regalando a loro il necessario, e a me una grandissima gratificazione. Sarà questo il miglior modo per festeggiare.

[Last November I pledged to renounce to a whole year of gifts my dearests would have given me for my graduation, for Christmas and so on, and asked them instead to give their own contributions to a charity:water project. The first part of my campaign "A stream of gifts" (http://my.charitywater.org/un-fiume-di-regali) then succeeded in raising $305 and in sending them on the field. It was an amazing experience for a number of reasons: I was enthusiastic to see how friends and relatives responded to my call, surprised to find friends that live far away and even strangers in the list of contributors, extremely satisfied to reach and even to overcome my initial objective at an incredible speed.

Now the mother of all celebrations is coming, my birthday, as I turn 23 on the 23rd - that's chance! Everyday life stuff, Easter celebrations and the impossibility to celebrate with all my friends that live all over the planet obviously make me less comfortable with this birthday. For this reason, it would be awesome to celebrate with all of you by contributing again to this noble cause and by gifting them with the needed, and me with peerless satisfaction. This will be the best way to celebrate!]
