Why Susquehanna University is fundraising for clean water

A student at Susquehanna University, Carmen Ortez, was born in El Salvador. Her parents worked tirelessly and gave up everything to bring Carmen and her sister to the United States. This would include not eating to make sure that the children had enough to eat. They ended up being able to move to the United States, and, at age 13, Carmen traveled back to El Salvador. In her village, there was a huge tank of water for the town that was not even transparent. It was dirty, contaminated, and deadly. This is water that Carmen was so close to drinking every day of her life, if not for her family. Now, as a student at Susquehanna University, all she wants to do is give back in order to thank her parents for their sacrifice and to help those that do not have access to clean water. She got involved with the charity: water club and shared her story, and we came up with the idea to link it to a faculty campaign.

The charity: water organization is incredibly unique through its transparent and contemporary nature. 100% of all public donations directly fund water projects and are proved through Google Maps and GPS coordinates. Faculty, students, and Susquehanna friends will be able to track this campaign and see the impact that the faculty at SU has on hundreds of people around the world.

So please join us in building a well. Not only to show SU's dedication to helping others, but for Carmen and her family.
