What would you do for clean water? For the 703 million people living without it, the answer is anything. And they do: they walk miles every day, in treacherous conditions and extreme heat, just to access water that makes them sick - or worse.
What better way to fight for clean water than to kayak 125 miles of it? As a group; Louis Byng, Matthew Conserva, Oli Tayabali, Ollie Piper, Jack Henderson, Johnny Costa-Duarte, Aston Stevenson, and Josh Taylor have decided to raise money for this exact reason.
Competing in pairs, the race starts in Devizes, Wiltshire, finishing at Westminster Bridge in central London, opposite the Houses of Parliament. Taking place over the Easter Weekend, it's a gruelling four-day course, 125 miles long including 77 portages. We hope that this achievement can inspire people to donate to our cause and help improve access to clean water in the areas that need it most.
For the last six months, we have trained three times a week and competing in four practise races preparing us for this momentous challenge. We've had to face difficulties such as hail, angry swans, frozen canals and often paddling late into the night.
In the end, this race is more than just a personal challenge— it's a way to raise awareness and funds for those who need clean water the most. Your support can make a real difference in the lives of millions. Thank you for helping us make this journey count.
A MASSIVE THANK YOU to everyone who has donated before and during our race!!! We are all so grateful for all the messages and donations we have received, and are blown away by the amount of money we have raised! 💙💙
