What's happening now?

The projects you are are helping fund in Tigray, the northernmost region of Ethiopia, are underway. Currently, more than 5 million people live there and less than half of them have access to clean and safe drinking water. But thanks to your help, we’re working to change that!

Our partner, the Relief Society of Tigray (REST), has already constructed 223 new projects through the grant you helped fund. Now they are hard at work forming local Water Committees and training them on water point maintenance, financial management, and fee collection to ensure sustainability and accountability at each of these projects.

Additionally, schools are forming health clubs to help promote hand washing and safe water practices using educational games and role-playing activities. We truly believe that sanitation and hygiene interventions are an essential component of our work in these communities and it is amazing to see the progress that is being made.

Over the next few months, REST will continue to work with local communities to complete an additional 133 water points thanks to generosity just like yours and we can't wait to see the incredible impact these projects will have on the people of Tigray.

What’s next?

As soon as projects are complete, we'll collect GPS coordinates, photos, and other details about each community to show you the impact you’ve made in Ethiopia.
