When it comes to the Nathan’s hot dog contest, the one thing that seems to gross people out the most is the dirty water created by dunking buns throughout the contest. Now as someone who has accidentally taken a drink out of these cups in the heat of battle, I can tell you you’re not wrong— it’s super gross. But it is disease free, at least, and that’s more than I can say for the water that millions of people in the world have to drink every day.

Every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. But it doesn’t have to be that way. There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world.

So let’s help charity: water build these types of projects around the world, and in return for every $150 donated, I’ll film a hot dog practice run or update on my preparation for coney. This year, with your help, I have a real shot at the belt!

And as always, 100% of the money will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped.
